David Icke? How can you take a man seriously who believes there are giant alien lizards walking amongst us pretending to be humans. Pah.

Are we hyper-sensitised to JW changes? Do we exaggerate their importance?
by yadda yadda 2 insometimes i think we lose all perspective at times on here.
that we are just as prone to over-magnifying any meaning behind relatively minor changes like this in the organisation in the same way jw's are prone to over exaggerate every bit of bad news in the world to mean armageddon is near.. when you sit down in the cold light of day, this change to the bookstudy arrangement for example, is it really that much a big deal?
i strongly doubt it really, despite initial reactions (including my own).

Let's face it, this is just a pathetic little rearranging of chairs on a very slowly sinking ship.

no more bible study slip reports. WHY?
by wannaexit ini apologize if this has been discusses before.
a few months ago publishers were told not to hand in individual study reports for bible studies.
remember, we had to hand in a separate report for each bible study with name and address of bible student.

Compare demise of Plymouth Brethren and Witchtower
by hamsterbait inthe plymouth brethren, had the same type of exclusivity as the witchtower, no worldly friends, practising shunning etc, they had sooo many teachings on making everyday life seem like everlasting death - you would think the witchtower babble and trash society was an offshoot.. they have now faded to a hardly noticable group, as their end time prophecies failed, and they were unable to substitute these with something more upbeat than "the satanic trinity" or forcing non believing relatives to eat at another table.. hb.

Dozy, that's interesting. Why was the Christian Scientist's venture into TV so disastrous? It's worked for many evangelists.

What is the best question to ask a witness
by ImFreeatlast inlets have a free for all .
i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?
) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .

Similar to earlier comment: Why is it "good news" that Jehovah is going to slaughter billions of people eternally at Armageddon? Why would I want to worship a God that would do that?

Real Good News
by superman inthis must be a sign of what will lie ahead for the j-dubs (at least in the united states).
this last weekend at the special day circuit assembly i went to, not a single person got baptized (zero, zip, nada) and the funny part was that they still had to give the baptism talk because it was already in the program schedule.
hopefully people are starting to catch on and we'll have a few more "zero baptism" assemblies.

How many were in attendance at that assembly? How utterly ridiculous that the talk wasn't cancelled. That would have made me think "this religion is drying up...this is embarrassing"

Christians - What do you believe about Armageddon?
by JayBird ini've always wondered what mainstream christianity's viewpoint is in regards to armageddon.
i understand there's no timetable.
but that sense of urgency that exists with jws doesn't seem to be there either.

Most contemporary style churches (the ones that are now so popular with younger people) associate it with some sort of apocalyptic, holocaustic episode based in the Middle East, particularly in association with Christ's supposed return to Jerusalem. Christians are then taken up in the rapture and the earth is burned up. That's pretty much how the more modern, hip style churches view Armageddon.
